Visit The Nation's Largest Edible Garden

Just a short drive from the metro area, Powell Gardens recently opened the Heartland Harvest Garden.  This 12 acre expansion is the nation's largest edible landscape.  In addition to sampling stations, you can check out many different garden styles along with sculptures, water features, a vineyard and a garden of prepared soil for kids to sow, care for and harvest.   There is an entire section for kids that also includes a maze of edible hedges and kid-friendly sculptures to climb.

This Sunday, July 17th, is the Sweet Corn Fest.  Regular Garden admission applies for all of the food fests: $9.50/adults, $8.50/seniors, and $4/children 5-12.

Additional events at Powell Gardens include Full Moon Friday on July 15th at 7:00 pm and the Jurassic Garden through August 14th.
