Stubborn Men - I'm Talking to You!

And all this time, the women of the world just thought you were trying to annoy them.  Who knew it could actually kill you?  The billboard above was part of an ad campaign that ran back in June, but it's a powerful enough message to be bring it back.  According to the Agency for Healthcare Research and Quality (AHRQ):
  • Men are 24 percent less likely than women to have visited a doctor within the past year and   are 22 percent more likely to have neglected their cholesterol tests.
  • Men are 28 percent more likely than women to be hospitalized for congestive heart failure.
  • Men are 32 percent more likely than women to be hospitalized for long-term complications of diabetes and are more than twice as likely than women to have a leg or foot amputated due to complications related to diabetes.
  • Men are 24 percent more likely than women to be hospitalized for pneumonia that could have been prevented by getting an immunization.
The AHRQ website has tools such as a checklist for staying healthy, a list of questions to ask at doctor's visits, and information about exploring treatment options.

I understand that this could put you in a challenging situation.  You wouldn't want to give in now and ruin that hard-earned reputation of stubborness.  I get it.  On the flip side, you can give in just this once and then live long enough to annoy the women in your life for a few more years.  On second thought, forget it.  Just make sure your life insurance is paid up...
