One of the best things about Saturday morning in the summer is the farmers' market. We're lucky to have so many markets in the metro area. City Market in downtown KC, MO is the biggest, but there are several other options if you prefer to stay closer to home. For something a little different, consider BADSEED'S "funky" Friday Night Farmers' Market in the Crossroads District. Combine it with First Fridays for a great date night!
A few tips:
Bring your own bags
Bring cash - preferably small bills
Consider bringing a cooler with ice if you don't plan to go home right away.
Try at least one new fruit or veggie. If you've tried everything, revisit something you haven't tried for a few years and prepare it differently. You might be surprised how much the cooking method can change the taste of something.
If you have kids, let them choose something. They're more likely to eat it if they picked it out!
Talk to the vendors. You can get the inside scoop on their favorite varieties and their growing practices.
