Flu Season - Already?

The bad news is that flu season is just around the corner.  The good news is everyone covered by Excel's health insurance plan through BlueCross BlueShield will be able to get the flu vaccine at no cost.  Just use the tool below to find a location that is convenient to your home or jobsite:

The CDC recommends getting your flu vaccine in September, or as soon as vaccine is available.    While flu season can begin early as October, most of the time seasonal flu activity peaks in January or February.
Remember that the flu season can last as late as May so if you don't get a chance to do it early, it's still of value to get the vaccine later in the season.

The upcoming season's flu vaccine will protect against the three influenza viruses that research indicates will be most common during the season. This includes an influenza A (H1N1) virus, an influenza A (H3N2) virus, and an influenza B virus.
