Veterans Day


In 1918, at the eleventh hour, of the eleventh day, of the eleventh month, fighting ceased in World War I.   Formerly known as Armistice Day, Veterans Day (November 11) is a day to honor veterans living and dead who have given so much to protect our country and placed the nation’s security before their own lives, as well as the comfort of their families.  We want to especially honor our Excel employees who served our country in the armed forced - both at home and abroad.   Your service and sacrifice is deeply appreciated.


We want to make you aware of some local offers available for veterans:

Applebee’s will give all veterans and active duty service members a free meal all day.  Veterans must provide proof of service, which includes a U.S. Uniform Services Identification Card, U.S. Uniform Services Retired Identification Card, Current Leave and Earnings Statement, Veterans Organization Card, photograph in uniform or wearing uniform, DD214, Citation or Commendation.
Nick and Jake’s , in Overland Park and Parkville, is offering veterans and active military members a free lunch from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m.
Waterway Carwash is offering a free car wash and discounted gasoline at all four of its Kansas City-area locations.
Price Chopper is offering a 25-cent discount on your next fill-up for gas. Veterans need to bring their Chopper Shopper REWARDS card and either their VA card, VFW card, DD214 or other veterans ID to any Price Chopper store on Nov. 11.
Chili’sfree meal, Sunday, Nov. 11 2012. Chili’s is offering all military veterans past and present their choice of one of 7 meals. This offer is available from 11am – 5pm on November 11, 2012 at participating Chili’s in the U.S. only. Dine-in from limited menu only; beverages and gratuity not included. Veterans and active duty military simply show proof of military service. 
Hy-Vee, Free Breakfast, Monday, Nov. 12, 2012. Free Veterans Day breakfast from 7am – 11am at all Hy-Vee supermarkets with in-store dining. Bring proof of service.
Lone Star Steakhouse, Monday, Nov. 12, 2012.(update): All veterans and active duty military will receive a FREE entrée from the Stars & Stripes Menu. ID required, please call ahead for verification.
McCormick & Schmick’s Seafood Restaurants – free lunch or dinner, Sunday Nov 11, 2012: McCormick & Schmick’s is celebrating their 14th annual Veteran’s Appreciation Event on Sunday, November 11th. Veterans will be able to choose a complimentary lunch or dinner entrée. Veterans must provide proof of military service. Be sure to contact your local McCormick & Schmick’s as this is valid at participating restaurants only. Also, space is limited and reservations are highly recommended. Texas Roadhouse – free lunch, Monday Nov. 12, 2012. Every Texas Roadhouse location across the country will participate in the free lunch event to honor the men and women of our armed forces. Choose from one of 10 free meals, plus sides and a drink. Offer good for All veterans – including all active, retired or former U.S. military. ID Required. Find locations.
The Olive Garden, Free entrée, Nov. 11, 2012. Offer good for veterans and active duty military, on Sunday, November 11th during regular business hours. Chose from a special menu; all entrées include freshly baked garlic sticks and choice of soup or salad. Offer good in US and Canada, proof of service required. More info.
